The representatives of the liturgical movement knew that the renewal of the religious life of the faithful required a proper definition of the essence of the liturgy and of what the Church is. Then, they not only distanced themselves from the rubricist view of the liturgy, but also developed its new understanding and the importance of the faithful's active participation in celebrations. This study attempts to demonstrate the Silesian liturgical movement through the prism of Fr Stanislaus Stephan's activity and his collaboration with the Benedictines from Krzeszów, with emphasis on the importance of liturgical singing in the celebrations of the Church.
